DIY Disney Family Shirts

Our family went to Disney World in Jan 2020, right before the world shut down for COVID. I had no idea while planning this trip that Disney would soon be changing a lot of things because of the virus. My daughter was 6 at the time we went, so we wanted to meet as many of the princesses as possible. I did a lot of reading about where to find princesses and what to do at Disney. While I was researching I kept seeing so many cute matching shirts. After checking shirt prices on Etsy I decided to attempt to make them myself using my Silhouette.

I downloaded my DXF file from Etsy. You can use a SVG file if your Silhouette or Cameo supports it. I have the free version of Silhouette Studio, so I use DXF files. I made a Minnie Mouse With Polka Dot Bow Shirt for myself, my daughter and my mom. My daughter loved that we were all matching! This was my first time making shirts and they turned out great!

My sons were 4 and 2 at the time of the trip. I made them matching shirts that said I’m here for the snacks for our Magic Kingdom day and I’m working on my Rawr for when we were at Animal Kingdom. Click here for my tutorial of how to do bleached shirts!

When I made these shirts I watched so many how to videos about different steps in the process. There are video’s to help with everything from design to application. My problem was that by the time I was ready to make the actual shirt, I forgot some of the important steps along the way, like mirroring my imagine. This cost me time and $ in wasted vinyl.
